It's been a fairly active and as always interesting last couple of weeks in the A&R, Publishing, Film/TV/Video Game, and Studio Worlds. The main news has been the announcement that Warner Bros. Records has hired Robert Kraft to help reinvigorate Warner's film, television and video game soundtrack department. Kraft was formerly the President of Fox Music from 1994 to 2012 and has credited with music supervision for more than 300 films. The other big executive move was the appointment of Jon Platt as the new President, North America of Warner/Chappell Music. Platt will report to Warner/Chappell Music Chairman/CEO Cameron Strang and is expected to remain in Los Angeles. Other industry moves include the exit of Sydney Entertainment Centre GM Steve Romer and the exit of Bertlesmann President Thomas Hesse. Bertlesmann released a statement saying that Hesse will step down December 31st "at his own request" with Chairman/CEO Thomas Rabe assuming Hesse's duties. Alliance Entertainment has been acquired by Super D creating the second largest U.S. wholesaler with revenues of approximately $900 Million and the Music Business Association has added Glenn Dicker, co-owner of Redeye Inc., and Dave Zierler, President of INgrooves Music, to its Board of Directors. iTunes Radio has hired former Cumulus Media Executive VP-Sales Michael Pallad who is now overseeing ad sales for iTunes Radio internationally. Sony Music Entertainment India has signed a strategic license deal to sell its music catalogs in India, Sri Lanka and other SAARC countries to Warner Music Group. Warner Music Group has also announced the launch of Warner Music South Africa following a buyout of Gallo Records' share of the joint venture Warner Music Gallo Africa. Tracy Fraser will continue as Managing Director, Warner Music South Africa. UK media and promotion executive Kevin McCabe is joining Universal Music as Director of Promotions and Artist Campaign Strategy at Caroline International. Sony/ATV Music Publishing has announced the promotion of Jacob Fain as VP, A&R and Research.
