Social media is essential for any business these days

Social media is essential for any business these days. It
does not matter what your business is, the bottom line is
you need to be using it!

Crowdsourcing is the act of outsourcing tasks to a large
community (crowd) by using an open call.

Twitter is the ultimate platform to do this on and can
provide you with phenomenal results.

As record label owners or musicians we can use Twitter to
crowdsource the audiences for our gigs.

To do this you are going to need to tweet about your gig
into your Twitter account.

The message should be short and personal and include an
incentive.

Incentives can be discounted tickets, free drinks,
merchandise or anything else that you think new fans would
want.

When choosing an incentive it is important to make sure
that it is easy to provide, free or very cheap so that you
can afford it and will appeal to your audience
(not to you!).

You need to do a little bit of work to find the most popular
hashtags related to your style of music on Twitter.

Visit hastag, org to get some ideas of the popular ones and
then use these in your tweets.

Make sure that the tweet is sent out at peak Twitter times
to get the maximum exposure and don't be afraid to tweet
about your gig more than once.

Another trick is to get your followers to retweet by simply
asking them!

You will find a huge amount will retweet about your gig if
you just ask.

Send reminders as the gig is getting nearer and keep the
pressure on people to spread the word.

This simple technique can fill a small venue without you
having to do any other marketing techniques!

If we are going to be successful as record label owners
then we need to use the technology that is available to us
to maximize our marketing.
